The Fair

When I was little, we would occasionally attend the Sandwich Fair. It's actually the Dekalb County Fair, but everyone calls it the Sandwich Fair. It's an old fashioned real fair. There are pony rides, a train ride, old-time engine display, vendors, tractor pulls, concerts, etc. You name it , they've got it. Well, since we moved here, we've gone every year. Except last year, due to pouring rain and 45 degree temps. But, this year it was 80 degrees, sunny and gorgeous! The perfect day to take Joy to her first fair. First, we hit the cheese curds stand. Kevin heads there first every year. Joy loved them. Of course.....Deep-fried cheese. What could be better? Next, we saw the cows. I love cows. But, why must they be in the stalls butt-end out? It's their faces that are so pretty. Not so much the back end. And there's such a danger of....well, you know. Next, we saw the piggies! Joy liked them a lot. We went to the petting zoo, where Joy petted a pony and a bunny. I petted the goats. They are my favorite. So much like cats, but bigger. And more nibbly! We took Joy on the train ride, but she was a little scared and held Daddy very tightly. No tears, though. She enjoyed her first funnel cake, too. Especially her fancy lawn chair (Daddy) that she got to sit in while eating! We had such a good time, I think we'll go back next year!
