The freezer

When we bought our house, we bought it "as is". It came with some lovely wallpaper, turquoise shag, turquoise metal kitchen cabinets, foam (yes, foam) trim in the livingroom and a freezer. Not just any freezer, mind you. A big freezer. It was an International Harvester made in something like 1945. It was huge. It was heavy. It was filthy. And then there was the body in it. Kidding, people! But, it might have fit one. And it was everyone's first comment when they saw it. It took up a huge corner of our basement and it had to go. It took me 7 years to find someone willing to help get it out. My BIL. The saint. He removed the motor that sat next to the freezer. He removed the hinges and took off the lid. He cut off the sides of the freezer. Then he and Kevin carried the inside outside. It was very heavy. Then the bottom came up and out, too! Insulation was bagged and put out on the alley. It was out!!!!!! On Tuesday the garbage man came and hauled it away. Joy and I watched and waved good-bye. So long old freezer! And thanks David! We are eternally grateful! And oooooohhhhh the space!!!!!

  1. Seriously, that 2nd photo kind of looks like a body MIGHT have been in it. Nasty. What a good thing gone!
