Just before Kevin left for China, another mom was visiting Julia's orphanage and got to meet her. She emailed me and said that this little girl was so ready for a family. And she was! She does remember her birth family and, I think, she was just waiting for her new family to come for her. She never lost hope! The night she came home she walked into the house, yanked a picture of herself out of her bag and slapped it onto the refrigerator. She was home! Yesterday it was 5 months since Kevin and the Grandmas met Julia in China. She tells me she was afraid and very sad that day. She had to say goodbye to her friends......her family. One of her scariest days was one of our happiest. She has come such a long way in just 5 months! Across the world and into a pretty good size, loving family. Yesterday she was welcomed into yet another family......God's! I hadn't planned on having her Baptized this soon, but she was so ready and wanted to be a part of His family, too! In China she got to attend Mass in Mandarin. She also had the chance to talk to the priest before Mass. He gave her a little talk about Jesus and she has been so curious. She loves to go to Church! Every night she prays for her friend, Da Peng, and asks God to help him. And God has! He was moved to a different orphanage, where is he is getting some extra help. Julia is elated! So, yesterday our family gathered at our Church and Shu Shu Kurt (Uncle Kurt) Baptized her. She was very excited about it all, until it came time for the actual water over the head part. When Kurt asked her if she wanted to be Baptized she said, "No, thank you." At least she's polite, right? Well, she was Baptized............even if she wasn't crazy about being all wet! And then it was on to the party...........and food! She really had one focus yesterday...........when do we have cake! That's my girl! So......in just 5 months Julia has gained 2 families. I think she's pretty happy about that!
