Uncelebrated birthdays

Have you ever had a birthday that felt....well.....lacking? Not enough people called. No one thru a big party. No fuss made over you. Did it feel a little sad? Did you feel sorry for yourself? I know I've had a couple like that. What if no one ever celebrated your big day? What if no one even knew when it was? Today, in a small orphanage in the Henan Province in China, a little girl is turning 8 years old. This is her 5th birthday she has passed in her orphanage. Her first 3 she possibly spent with her birth family. Is she having a party? Has anyone hugged her and told her "Happy Birthday?" Does she even know today is her special day? Perhaps not. There are probably no presents. There is no cake. It is just another day. But, here, on the other side of the world, her family is thinking about her. They are praying for her. They will be making her a cake and her sister will be singing Happy Birthday to her. We know it's her birthday. We are wishing we could see her face as she blows out her candles. But, it is not to be......this year. Next year will be a different story! Next year she will have her very own birthday party. Her own cake and presents, too. But, for now maybe you could say a little prayer for our girl. We can't wait to get her home!!!! Happy Birthday Julia Wen!!!!! We are thinking about you!
