There has been far too much illness for a certain 6 year old this year. FAR. TOO. MUCH. When school started she immediately got a cold. Like on day 1. More colds followed. Every 7-10 days. By Christmas they were coming every 21 days. Better but still. She had the stomach flu twice as well. Then, just before Easter came the cough. It stayed only 3 days and then was gone. A week later it returned again. Again only for 3 days. The following week the same thing. Off to the Dr. we went. We determined it was allergies and went home to try some Benedryll, etc. It did help. The following week the girls had their annual check-ups and were both fine. That night however, the cough was back. This time with a 102 degree fever. I called the Dr. He thought a virus and had us just monitor her and it would pass. After a brief spell of throwing up, she seemed to feel much better. She did fine all weekend with just a tiny fever.......like 99. On Sunday she spiked. I checked her at noon and her temp. was 99. An hour and a half later she just didn't seem right. She said she was fine. But I knew something wasn't right. Her temp. was 104.4! Off to walk-in care we went. They ran several tests, including a chest x-ray........Pneumonia......So, home we came with our antibiotic. But things didn't improve. In fact yesterday he fever spiked up to 105 during the night. Off to the Dr. again. He checked her out and re-ordered the x-rays. There was no change. The Pneumonia is still there. So, a new antibiotic has been started. She had a much better night due to 3 alarms and her fever reducers. Today's high so far has been 101.9. Much better than her 105 of yesterday. She is exhausted. She is bored. She is so pale and getting kind of thin. But her breathing is fine. Fast, but okay so we are glad for that. Her mama is sick with worry and her Dr. has called several times today to see how things are going. Pneumonia is bad stuff.......and she is soooooo tiny......40 lbs.............The house is way too quiet...........this morning she was feeling pretty spunky and bugged the crud out of her sister, who was thrilled. Julia misses Joy. As much as Joy's pestering drives her bats, she is missing her buddy. And Joy is missing Julia too. Every day (for a week now) we drop Julia off at school and come home and Joy starts, "Is it time to get my sister yet? When do we leave for Julia?" So..............say a prayer or two, will ya? This germ needs to get out of my baby now. It is not welcome here! Not welcome at all!
