Last night there was great excitement in our little house. The spring concert! I use the term "spring" very loosely, of course. No sign of spring here......anyways........the concert! A few months ago I heard Joy singing parts of the National Anthem. I thought maybe she heard it on one of the many (sigh) football games playing on our TV. So, I asked her. Nope, she was learning it at school for the concert. Concert? Huh.....As time went on the girls came home singing more and more songs. One for almost every holiday. The excitement built as the day approached until last night when Joy was just giddy. Like over the top. We came home from school, did homework, ate dinner and then started the primping. A girl's gotta look her best ya know! Off to the highschool we went, tissues in my pocket courtesy of Joy (she knows me well). I wondered what Joy would do.....but she did what Joy always does......she sang her little heart out and followed along perfectly. She was gorgeous! What no one, not even her parents, expected was Julia. She was very worried about standing for so long and people laughing at her. But you know what? That little girl not only stood for 40 minutes....oh no......that would be way too easy.......she danced. Yes, she danced. None of the other kids danced. She was the star of the evening and everyone loved her! We were told she was amazing. She and Joy were the cutest ones there. And a couple people mentioned that Julia had made their day. She had herself the best time! And, in doing so, made sure everyone there had the best time. No one stopped smiling! That is something the best comedians have trouble doing. The little girl who sat on her stool, waiting and wondering just 1 year ago danced and brought joy to an entire audience last night. We're thinking she might have a future on Broadway! Oh! And something else......Julia is no longer the shortest kid in her class!!!!!!!!!! This is big news when you're 2 years older than everyone! She is very happy about this!
