When you think of bravery, who do you picture? Is it a soldier? A knight in shining armor? A football player? An actor? Or maybe it's a tiny kitten taking on a dog? Or maybe, as in our case, it's a tiny girl being led to her new family. She, most likely, was woken up early, loaded onto a bus with other scared children and brought to a government building. There she waited for what? She doesn't know. She knows she's thirsty and hungry. And, probably, very tired. Where is the nice lady who has always fed her? Why doesn't she bring the water? And then, a man takes her hand and hands her off to 2 people who she doesn't know. They seem nice- they have Cheerios. But she doesn't know them. You remember when you started your new job. You didn't know anyone- you were nervous. Joy was 17 months old, when she went-alone-to Nanchang. There she met us. Her family. How scared she must have been. How brave. So, to us, bravery will always be Joy. She didn't scream. She didn't cry much. She just came to us, with her little heart open and her little chin held high. We are honered to have this little warrior for our daughter. She is tough as a little lion and delicate as a kitten. Last night, she crawled into bed with me and said, "I missed you." I said, "I missed you, too." Then she looked into my eyes, touched my cheek and said, "I lub you, mommy." Me, too, baby girl. Me, too. Happy family day, Joy.

awww... that made me choke up. Happy Family day you all- a little late!!
